(57) Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing a fiber optic sensor for detecting or measuring the concentration of carbon dioxide in a sample liquid. The method comprises preparing a suitable indicator composition (16) and placing the indicator composition slidably on the tip of an optical fiber (12) sealed with suitable bonding means (18). Incorporation into a capsule (14). To amplify the resulting signal, the capsule (14) is preferably made to contain reflective particles and is tapered toward a narrow tip. Also provided is a novel optical sensor and a method for calculating the CO 2 concentration in a sample liquid using the sensor. |
