titleOfInvention Hydraulic valve control device for vehicle anti-lock brake and tra cushion control system
abstract (57) [Summary] A valve control device for an anti-lock and traction control system of a vehicle and a valve structure of the valve control device. The valve controller has a valve body housing (30) having a cylindrical cavity (144) for receiving the interior of the valve, and a counterbore (148) forming an annular shoulder. Each valve has a radial flange (102) received in the counterbore and seated on the annular shoulder. The perimeter of the counterbore is swaged to form an inward annular lip (154) to secure the radial flange to the counterbore. The upset annular lip also forms a fluid tight seal between the radial lip and the valve body housing. The annular lip is formed by a swaging tool (160) that pivots in a rosette pattern. The upsetting of the annular lip reduces the spacing between the valves, reducing the size and weight of the valve control.
