(57) Abstract: (a) a safe and effective amount of kojic acid; (b) a safe and effective amount of salicylic acid; (c) water; and (d) from about 20% to about 30% by weight of the composition. The general formula of weight%: Wherein R 1 is an alkyl group of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, m is from about 2 to about 3, and n is from about 1 to about 2. An aqueous topical composition for skin lightening is disclosed wherein the composition has a pH of about 2.5 to about 4 and does not contain a thickener. Also disclosed is a method for whitening mammalian skin comprising applying an aqueous topical composition to the skin topically. |
