(57) [Summary] By taking a porous membrane with a thin film layer side capable of separating whole blood and visually reading the indicator without removing the red blood cell part of the blood from the membrane, the glucose level and the like can be measured. Apparatus and methods using a dry chemical dye indicator system for body fluid analysis are provided. The device also allows visual reading of the indicator by using a membrane or matrix that provides for the separation of whole blood within the lateral flow of blood through the matrix from the matrix injection area to the test area. The device also performs a microtitration of a bodily fluid sample in a fixed volumetric opening containing the indicator reagent. Another aspect of the device provides a method for determining a hematocrit level in whole blood in combination with an indicator reading of an analyte concentration that may be compensated for the hematocrit level. The provided device is low cost due to the provided efficient manufacturing method. |
