titleOfInvention | Transgenic carnations with long post-harvest life |
abstract | (57) [Summary]nThe present invention generally relates to transgenic plants that exhibit long post-harvest (post-harvest) lifespan characteristics. More particularly, the present invention relates to transgenic carnation plants that have been modified to reduce the expression of one or more enzymes involved in the ethylene biosynthetic pathway. The flowers of such carnation plants do not produce ethylene or produce reduced amounts of ethylene and can therefore retain a longer postharvest than the flowers of natural carnation plants that have not been genetically modified. |
