titleOfInvention | Expandable branched polyester |
abstract | (57) [Summary]nDisclosed are branched polyester compositions having an IV of at least 0.7 dL / g and a melt viscosity high enough to allow foaming during the extrusion or molding operation. The branched polyester is easily foamable with a wide range of blowing agents and provides low density molded articles, films and sheets. The branched polyester is selected from the group consisting of about 80 to about 99.9% by weight of the polyester and about 0.1 to about 20% by weight of ethylene with acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate and vinyl alcohol. Ethylene copolymer containing a repeating unit with a monomer. The polyester comprises about 75 to 100 mole% of a repeating unit from 6 to 40 carbon atoms of a dibasic acid and 0 to about 25 mole% of a modified dibasic acid and about 75 to 100 mole% of a 2 to 10 carbon atoms of a dibasic acid. Glycol, from 0 to about 25 mol% of a modified glycol and 0 to about 25 mol% of a repeating unit from a modified compound selected from the group consisting of amino alcohols, diamines and lactams. |
