(57) [Summary] A method and an apparatus for generating a chemical library will be described. The apparatus includes a reaction block (140) supporting a replaceable reaction chamber. Each reaction block comprises four sets of twelve reaction chambers. The reaction chamber has an S-shaped trap tube extending into the drain tube. The reaction block includes gas piping and a diaphragm seal so that the reaction chamber is emptied through the drain tube by gas pressurization. The drain tube is configured to mate directly to a standard 96-well microtiter plate so that material can be collected. The docking station (300) fixes the alignment of the reaction block and introduces gases and liquids into the reaction block (140). An inert atmosphere is maintained within the reaction block by the top seal and optional bottom seal. The needle (20) pipets the reagent from the reagent container (44) into the reaction chamber. The container rack (90) fixes the reagent container in a predetermined position. |
