abstract |
(57) Abstract: A method for catalytically decomposing organic substances in a reaction medium is provided. Nearly complete gasification is achieved in a relatively short time. The hydrogen-rich gas is formed from the feedstock (12). The feedstock (12) comprises any one of wet biomass, such as water hyacinth or green algae, organic waste, and a mixture of biomass and organic waste. The reaction is promoted by the action of the carbon-containing catalyst (22). The reaction medium may include supercritical water and is substantially free of oxygen. The carbon-containing catalyst (22) is stable in the environment of the supercritical water medium and maintains catalysis for a long time. Suitable carbon-containing catalysts are activated carbon or charcoal. The reaction product (26) is substantially free of tar or char. |
