titleOfInvention Method for producing tetrahydrofuran polymer
abstract (57) [Summary]nHomopolymerization of tetrahydrofuran using an acid-treated, calcined and granulated aluminum silicate catalyst consisting of amorphous aluminum silicate, zeolite or kaolin in the presence of a compound having a reactive hydrogen or a carboxylic anhydride. Or continuously or discontinuously producing a tetrahydrofuran polymer by copolymerization of tetrahydrofuran with a 1,2-alkylene oxide. During the polymerization, the concentration of carboxylic anhydride or alkylene oxide in the polymerization batch is increased from 1% by weight. By keeping it constant below, the formation of cyclic ethers is sufficiently suppressed and a very narrow distribution of the polymer is obtained. The catalysts exhibit a heretofore unknown activity in the form of granules, producing a very narrow distribution of polymers with low color numbers and acid numbers.
