titleOfInvention Boundary-layer coal nozzle device for steam generators.
abstract The steam generator (10) includes a nozzle for pulverized coal and air, the nozzle including an elongated, generally cylindrical body (30), the body being provided in one axial portion thereof. Has a nozzle. The device also includes a nozzle tip (34) that is generally sleeved and sized to overlap the distal end of the body. The nozzle tip (34) is mounted for pivoting about the distal end of the body (30) and includes first and second surfaces (58, 59), which surfaces are the same as the body (30). Sized and shaped to accept all of the flow from the surface. The apparatus further includes a sealing plate (50), which is also generally sleeved and forms a seal between the distal end of the body (30) and the nozzle tip (34). It has dimensions and shape. The seal plate (50) is mounted for pivoting about the distal end of the body (30) and the first and second seal plates (50) and the nozzle tip (34) over all possible pivotal positions. It is sized and shaped to have third and fourth surfaces (52, 54) that are provided in closely spaced relation to the surfaces (58, 59), respectively. This closely spaced relationship defines an elongated slot for the passage of air. Seal plate (50) includes a stop (56) that limits the relative pivoting between nozzle tip (34) and seal plate (50). In some aspects of the invention, the first and second surfaces (58, 59) are flat surfaces. The third and fourth surfaces (52, 54) are cylindrical surfaces. The stop (56) is at least one upright member carried on the sealing plate (50). The sealing plate (50) includes first and second flat opposing sides joined by third and fourth surfaces (52, 54). In another aspect of the invention, the third and fourth surfaces (52, 54) have concave portions, the concave portions being provided in opposing relation. The stop (56) is a portion of the first and second flat opposing sides and includes at least one ear on each of the first and second sides and includes another The configuration includes a second ear on each of the first and second sides. All of these ears are substantially flat, and each of the ears is flush with one of the first and second sides.
