abstract (57) Summary Snooping is performed on a split transaction snooping bus for a computer system having at least one such bus. A circuit board including a CPU or other device and / or distributed memory, a data input / output buffer, a queue including a request tag queue, a coherent input queue ("CIQ"), and an address controller for performing address bus arbitration; Plug into one or more split transaction snooping bus systems. All devices snoop on the address bus, learn whether the identified line is owned or shared, and issue the appropriate own / share signal. Receiving the ignore signal inhibits the transaction from being loaded into the CIQ, and continues until the transaction is reloaded and ignore is deasserted. Ownership of the requested memory line transfers immediately at the time of the request. Asserted requests are queued so that state transactions on the address bus occur atomically and logically, independent of the request. Subsequent requests for the same data will be tagged and assume the responsibility of the owner requester.
