titleOfInvention Electron emitting device, electron source, image display device, and method of manufacturing them
abstract [PROBLEMS] To provide an electron-emitting device which has a large emission current, is stable, can be driven at a low voltage, and is excellent in mass productivity, and an image display device using the same which is excellent in display quality. An electron emitting device having a pair of electrodes, a conductive thin film formed to electrically connect the electrodes, and an electron emitting portion formed on the conductive thin film. The electron-emitting device, wherein the part 5 has a structure in which the carbon body is terminated with a low work function material via oxygen. Since the low work function material is terminated through the oxygen bonded to the carbon body in this manner, the low work function material is not simply laminated on the carbon body, but is bonded by being polarized. The work function is reduced, and the stability is increased. For this reason, the emission current is increased and deterioration during driving is suppressed.
