abstract (57) [Problem] To provide an industrially useful production route of a 2-oxo-1,3-dioxa-2-thiolane derivative. SOLUTION: The following general formula (1): (Wherein, R represents a hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent). In producing a 2-oxo-1,3-dioxa-2-thiolane derivative represented by the following formula (2): Embedded image 1,2,3,4-butanetetraol represented by the following general formula (3) in which only a primary hydroxyl group is sulfonylated by reacting with a sulfonylating agent in a solvent in the presence of a base in a solvent. Embedded image 1,4-di-O-organosulfonyl-1,2,3,4-butanetetraol represented by the following formula, followed by reacting a thionylating agent to form a thiolane skeleton A method for producing a 2-oxo-1,3-dioxa-2-thiolane derivative.
