Proteinase inhibitors, their precursors and gene sequences encoding them |
abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide peptides and polypeptides which can be processed in a plant by cleavage of a protease-sensitive sequence. A nucleic acid molecule comprising a sequence of nucleotides encoding a type II serine proteinase inhibitor (PI) precursor from a plant or a sequence complementary to the coding sequence, wherein the precursor is at least 3 nucleotides. A nucleic acid molecule comprising two PI monomers, wherein at least one of the monomers has a chymotrypsin-specific site and at least one of the monomers has a trypsin-specific site. |
