titleOfInvention Magnetic recording media
abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To obtain a magnetic recording medium capable of obtaining good electromagnetic conversion characteristics even when achieving high-density recording. SOLUTION: A non-magnetic layer is formed as a lower layer 4 on a non-magnetic support 1 and a magnetic layer is formed as an upper layer 2, and the lower non-magnetic powder contains carbon black and needle-like inorganic material. The powder is included in a ratio of 70:30 to 90:10. The major axis length of the acicular inorganic powder is 0.05 ~ 0.2 μm, needle ratio 2-10. The average particle size of the carbon black is 0.01 to 0.04 μm. The surface roughness of the upper layer surface is set to 4.2 nm or less in center line average roughness Ra.
