abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a more efficient method for producing 1α, 24 (R) -dihydroxycholesterol. SOLUTION: The following formula (I) [Wherein, A and B both represent a hydrogen atom, A and B together represent a single bond, or A and B together represent an ether bond. 24 (S) represented by -Hydroxycholesta-4,6-dien-3-ones are reacted with their organic carboxylic acids in the presence of dialkyl azodicarboxylates and triarylphosphines. Esterification while inverting the steric configuration, the following formula (II) [Wherein A and B are the same as in the above formula, and R represents an acyl group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms. ] The step of obtaining a compound represented by the following formula (III): A method for producing 1α, 24 (R) -dihydroxycholesterol represented by the formula:
