abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an α, α'-diaminoalcohol derivative from L-serine, which is useful as an intermediate of an HIV protease inhibitor, with the problems of the conventional method (use of explosive substances and industrial (Eg, the use of solvents whose use is restricted). An optically active L-serine is used as a starting material, (S) -4- (2-Haloacetyl) -1,3-oxazolidin-2-one derivative is obtained, and then the oxazolidinone derivative is reduced, and the obtained halohydrin is closed with a ring to obtain an epoxide derivative. This epoxide derivative is reacted with an amide derivative to form thiophenol, Through protection of the amino group, an α, α′-diamino alcohol derivative is produced.
