abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming material capable of giving a high sensitivity and a sufficient density, obtaining a high resolution image and having excellent coating film strength, and an image forming method using the same. SOLUTION: The image forming material has an image forming layer containing colorant particles and a binder on a support, and the binder contains a polyvinyl acetal resin having a polar group. The polyvinyl acetal resin is -SO 3 M, —OSO 3 M, —COOM, —PO (OM 1 ) 2 and —OPO (OM 1 ) 2, wherein M is a hydrogen atom or an alkali metal atom, and M 1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal atom or A resin having at least one kind of polar group selected from} representing an alkyl group, a colorant particle being a metal atom-containing particle, and a thickness of the image forming layer of 0.1 to 10 μm. And the Young's modulus of the image forming layer is 600 kg / cm. It is a preferable embodiment that the number is 2 or more.
