abstract Kind Code: A1 A nasal cannula and an oral / nasal cannula that allow for the supply of oxygen and accurate sampling of carbon dioxide from exhaled breath. And (b) a collection tube for collecting breath from the patient. Because the nasal prongs and collection tube are connected at a single junction, exhaled air can flow freely from the nasal prongs to the collection tube. Preferably, the collection tube is a single collection tube. It is also preferred that the nostril prongs join in a substantially circular arc before being joined to the joint. The collection tube preferably supplies exhaled gas to the capnograph for gas analysis.
