abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a poly (ethylene isophthalate / ethylene terephthalate) system having a high molecular weight, excellent in color tone, heat resistance and impact resistance, and having good transparency, which is suitable for use as a gas barrier container. Provided is a method for producing a copolymerized polyester. SOLUTION: The molar ratio of ethylene isophthalate unit to ethylene terephthalate unit is 95/5 to 15/85. When producing a random copolymerized polyester, a number average molecular weight of an oligomer having a number average molecular weight of 2000 or less and phosphoric acid or an ester thereof in an amount of 1 × 10 -4 to 200 After performing the esterification reaction for at least 0.5 hours by adding in an amount of × 10 -4 mol, a specific amount of an antimony compound, a cobalt compound and a germanium compound is added as a polycondensation catalyst, and the number average molecular weight is 10,000 or more. The polycondensation reaction is performed until the reaction is completed.
