abstract (57) [Summary] (with correction) [PROBLEMS] To provide a negative-type image recording material that can be directly made from digital data and has good storage stability. SOLUTION: A negative image recording material comprising (A) a compound capable of crosslinking with an acid, (B) a binder polymer, (C) a compound capable of generating an acid by heat, and (D) an infrared absorber. (A) is a phenol derivative represented by the general formula (I), (B) is a polymer in which the binder polymer has an aromatic hydrocarbon ring to which a hydroxy group or an alkoxy group is directly bonded in a side chain. In the formula, Ar 1 represents an aromatic hydrocarbon ring, R 1 and R 2 are a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 12 or less carbon atoms, R 3 is a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 12 or less carbon atoms, m is an integer of 2 to 4, and n is 1 to 4.
