titleOfInvention | Hundred foot polymers and their manufacture and application in rubber compositions |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use as an extender or a plasticizer for an elastic polymer while improving preferable polymer properties such as tensile strength, maximum elongation, tear strength and vibration damping properties. To produce a suitable polymer. SOLUTION: A maleimide-alkenylbenzene copolymer "one hundred feet" type polymer and an alkenylbenzene-maleic anhydride copolymer are reacted in a substantially anhydrous state in the presence of a primary amine to produce the one hundred feet type. A method for making a polymer is disclosed. By blending this maleimide-alkenylbenzene copolymer one hundred foot type polymer with an elastic polymer in combination with or replacing with a conventional extender oil, tensile strength, maximum elongation, tear strength, vibration damping properties, etc. An extended polymer having improved polymer properties such as described above can be produced. |
