titleOfInvention | Liquid crystal element and manufacturing method thereof |
abstract | (57) [Summary] (with correction) [PROBLEMS] To provide a liquid crystal element capable of lowering a threshold value, reducing temperature dependence of transmittance, and reducing hysteresis, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display element in which substrates having a liquid crystal alignment film are opposed to each other with a predetermined gap on the liquid crystal alignment film side, and a liquid crystal is arranged in this gap, an SiO x film as a liquid crystal alignment film is used. Co-deposited film (where x is a positive number less than 2) The polyvinyl alcohol-based thin film 2 having a thickness of 0.1 μm or less (assuming that the aqueous solution concentration at the time of application is 1% by weight or less) which retains the irregularities 21 of the oblique deposition film 20 on the oblique pillar 20. By laminating 2, the polyvinyl alcohol-based thin film is laminated without eliminating the surface unevenness due to the oblique pillars, and the liquid crystal orientation by the shape of the SiO x pillars of the SiO x oblique deposition alignment film is sufficiently exhibited. And the compatibility of polyvinyl alcohol with the liquid crystal material (decrease in anchoring force, LCD suppression of polarization and interaction between -SiO X) is obtained, it is possible to utilize the respective features of the two alignment films. |
