abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which firstly imparts head cleaning properties to reduce film surface contamination after wet processing to reduce clogging of a magnetic head, and secondly, to reduce head contamination. Thirdly, the present invention provides a magnetic recording medium in which the scratch resistance and durability of a coating film are improved by sufficiently crosslinking a binder and a crosslinking agent in a magnetic layer. SOLUTION: In a magnetic recording medium having a magnetic recording layer on a support and containing a nonmagnetic abrasive, the nonmagnetic abrasive is coated with a metal alkoxy compound having a crosslinking group.
