Provided is an alkaline storage battery having improved and stable cycle life characteristics. SOLUTION: A nickel hydroxide powder having a surface coated with a cobalt hydroxide powder layer is heat-treated, and the powder obtained by rubbing the particle surface with a millstone type crusher to crush surface protrusions is used as an active material. This active material powder has few irregularities on the surface, has good fluidity, and can reduce the amount of electrolyte held by the positive electrode in the battery, and favorably distributes the electrolyte to improve the cycle life characteristics of the battery. . |
