abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a method for isolating a produced polyhydroxycarboxylic acid in a satisfactory manner in terms of quality and productivity. SOLUTION: A solution of polyhydroxycarboxylic acid obtained by allowing a haloiminium salt to act on hydroxycarboxylic acid and / or an oligomer thereof is dropped into water while removing an organic solvent under reduced pressure to form a water slurry. Then, it is isolated by filtration, washing and drying.
