PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel transition metal compound and a catalyst for olefin polymerization, and a method for efficiently and industrially producing a practical high-molecular-weight polyolefin, particularly polyethylene, using the catalyst. I do. SOLUTION: A transition metal compound belonging to Groups 8 to 10 of the periodic table having a biquinoline compound as a ligand. The transition metal compound is used as a catalyst in combination with an ionic compound or an organoaluminum oxy compound that can be converted into a cation by reacting with the transition metal compound to polymerize olefins. |
