abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an α-cyanhydrin ester and an α-hydroxy acid in a high yield. SOLUTION: In the presence of a metal catalyst such as a samarium compound, a compound represented by the formula (1): And an enol ester compound represented by the formula (3): Is reacted with a cyanating agent to give a compound of formula (4) To produce an α-cyanhydrin ester represented by Hydrolysis of this compound gives the corresponding α-hydroxy acid or salt thereof. (Wherein R 1 , R 7 and R 8 are the same or different and represent a non-reactive atom or a non-reactive organic group. R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are the same or different and each represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms) |
