titleOfInvention Method for producing pale anionic surfactant
abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To safely and reduce the amount of bleaching agent used, at low cost, efficiently lighten anionic surfactants, and further reduce the amount of residual oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide. Provided is a method for producing a light-colored anionic surfactant. SOLUTION: A higher alcohol or an alkylene oxide adduct thereof is sulfated with sulfur trioxide gas or chlorosulfonic acid, and then neutralized to obtain an anionic surfactant comprising a higher alcohol or a sulfate ester of the alkylene oxide adduct thereof. In the production method, simultaneously with or after the neutralization, the aqueous solution or slurry of the anionic surfactant is bleached with a reducing agent and then bleached with an oxidizing agent to obtain a light-colored anionic surfactant.
