(57) [Problem] To produce a hydrocarbon resin having no gel and excellent in hue. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a hydrocarbon resin by cationic polymerization of a monoolefin and a chain conjugated diene having 4 to 5 carbon atoms using an acidic metal halide catalyst, cycloolefin alone or as a polymerization solvent is used as a polymerization solvent. A hydrocarbon mixed solvent containing 5% by weight or more of cycloolefin is used. |
