abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate, a method for producing the same, and a method for confirming a DXS effector by using DXS. SOLUTION: A nucleic acid molecule encoding a protein having a DXS function or an active fragment thereof is inserted into an expression cassette suitable for a host cell, and the obtained expression cassette is inserted into a vector suitable for a host cell by an appropriate method. Then, a suitable host cell is transformed with the obtained vector, the transformed host cell is cultured in a suitable medium, and a protein having the function of DXS produced by the host cell or an active fragment thereof is cultured. A method for producing a protein having a DXS function or an active fragment thereof in a recombinant host cell, comprising isolating the protein from a culture medium or a host cell by an appropriate method. A method for determining a DXS effector comprising measuring the enzyme activity of DXS in the absence of a test substance, measuring the enzyme activity of DXS in the presence of the test substance, and comparing the confirmed enzyme activities.
