abstract | [57] [Problem] [PROBLEMS] Despite a thin film and high mechanical strength, dimensional change in the width direction is small and there is little delamination on the film surface, so that adhesion to a magnetic layer is good and output characteristics are high. The present invention provides a biaxially oriented polyester having a low error rate and excellent characteristics when used as a final product of a magnetic recording medium, particularly a digital video tape.
