PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnet wire insulating material designed to withstand a voltage waveform in an inverter-driven motor for a sustained period. SOLUTION: A high surface area inorganic oxide, such as fumed silica, is added into a magnet wire insulator to improve resistance to insulation degradation. Instead, mixtures of high surface area inorganic oxides and low resistivity oxides, such as chromium oxide, provide greater improvements over dielectric degradation. The present invention is particularly useful for extending the life of windings of high voltage, steep wave operated motors found in inverter driven motors. |
