PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer composition useful for improving water repellency and durability in a fiber, nonwoven fabric, woven fabric and paper composition. Further, the present invention provides a method for improving water repellency and durability of a fiber, a nonwoven fabric, a woven fabric and a paper composition. SOLUTION: The composition of the present invention comprises, as polymerized units, (i) (a) at least one C- (meth) acrylic acid; 12 -C 40 alkyl ester from 9.5 to 99.9 parts by weight; (b) at least one less than C 15 ethylenically unsaturated monomer 0 to 90 parts by weight; (c) at least one ethylenically unsaturated acid containing monomer Or (d) at least one crosslinkable monomer. 0.1 to 10 parts by weight, based on the weight of the polymer, of an emulsion polymer comprising 1 to 10 parts by weight; and (ii) 0 to 10 parts by weight of at least one crosslinking agent based on the weight of the polymer. It is characterized by containing a reactive monomer and a crosslinking agent. |
