abstract |
An apparatus and method for efficiently transferring texture data from a texture mapping chip to a frame buffer controller chip. A texel transferred from a texture mapping chip to one of a plurality of frame buffer controller chips is temporarily stored in a texel array storage. The texel storage location address in the texel array storage is stored in one of a plurality of address stores, each corresponding to a different frame buffer controller chip. When the controller chip of the plurality of frame buffer controller chips that is the destination of the texel stored in the texel array storage device is ready to receive the texel, it uses the storage location of the corresponding texel array storage device. Texels are transferred from the texel array storage to the appropriate frame buffer controller chip. |
