titleOfInvention | Method for producing silicone copolymer by interfacial polymerization |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To polymerize polymer chains at the interface between reactive starting materials dissolved in separate immiscible solvents without the need for a catalyst and without the problems associated with rearrangement during polymerization. A method for making a silicone copolymer having a controlled structure and copolymer composition is provided. SOLUTION: A solution of a dihalo or diacyloxy organosilicon compound in a non-aqueous organic solvent is converted to a compound of the formula R ″ x Si (OM) Silanolate or organosilanolate having 4-x or MO (R ″ 2 SiO) n M, wherein R ″ is an alkyl, aryl, alkenyl, alkylamino or epoxy group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms. Wherein x is from 0 to 2, n is at least 1, and M is an alkali metal) with an immiscible non-aqueous organic solvent solution at the interface formed thereby to produce a copolymer, from which the copolymer is formed.
