abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] To obtain a magnetic recording medium having high dispersibility and excellent running durability. A nonmagnetic layer having at least two coating layers on a nonmagnetic support, a top magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic powder and a binder resin, and a lower layer containing a nonmagnetic inorganic powder. In a magnetic recording medium that is at least one of a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic powder and a soft magnetic layer containing a soft magnetic powder, The uppermost magnetic layer and the lowermost binder resin include a binder resin containing a cyclic structure and an ether group in the polyurethane resin, and the uppermost magnetic layer has a binder resin content of 100 parts by weight of magnetic powder. 5 to 20 parts by weight, the content of the polyurethane resin is 2 to 15 parts by weight, the content of the polyurethane resin to the total amount of the binder resin is 20 to 100% by weight, and the bonding of the lower layer is performed. The resin content is 12 to 30 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of nonmagnetic powder or magnetic powder, and the polyurethane content is 2 to 1 parts by weight.
