abstract | (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To improve print quality in an electrostatic copying printer. An image forming layer formed on the surface of a substantially cylindrical image forming member is charged by a corona generator. The exposure system 16 irradiates a predetermined portion of the charged image forming layer with radiation according to the information of the document, and discharges this portion to form a latent image. The developing system 18 applies toner to the latent image, and the fusing station 40 fixes the toner. The image forming member 10 has an image forming layer containing a photoconductive material on a substrate made of a magnetic material having a magnetic permeability of 1.001 or more. Due to the magnetic properties of the substrate, the number of toner particles attracted to one pixel increases, and the image quality is improved. |
