titleOfInvention | Apparatus for removing caries using laser radiation |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating dental caries using laser radiation which does not generate heat causing thermal damage. An apparatus (1) for treating a target area (22) of a tooth (10) is provided. The device (1) of the present invention generally has a cooling liquid supply device (20) and an ultraviolet laser device 15). The coolant supply (20) supplies coolant (52) to the target area (22), while the light guide (44) focuses the ultraviolet light on the target area (22). The ultraviolet light (18) and the cooling liquid (52) cooperate, The desired material is removed without generating excessive heat that can burn the surface texture and cause thermal damage. |
