(57) [Summary] To develop a desulfurizing agent for removing sulfur dioxide (sulfurous acid gas) generated during coal combustion with high efficiency and a method for desulfurizing coal combustion gas using the same. SOLUTION: The surface of a calcium-based powder is coated with a metal oxide comprising one or a mixture of two or more of titanium oxide, iron oxide, manganese oxide, aluminum oxide, silicon oxide, zirconium oxide and magnesium oxide. A calcium-based desulfurizing agent obtained by imparting a large number of active sites to the surface of the powdery or granular material, and the combustion generated by mixing the calcium-based desulfurizing agent with coal and burning the coal in the presence of the mixture. The gas is desulfurized. |
