These absorbent foams have the capillary absorption pressure required for absorbents used in menstrual products, but have sufficient openness to allow insoluble components in blood-based fluids such as menses to move freely. Have. These absorbent foams are made by polymerizing a high internal phase emulsion (HIPE). In high internal phase emulsions, the volume to weight ratio of the aqueous phase oil phase is in the range of about 20: 1 to about 125: 1.
