Production of pentenoic acid |
abstract |
(57) Abstract: In the reactive distillation zone, 3-pentenoic acid or an R ester of pentenoic acid is prepared by treating pentenoyl chloride with ROH, wherein R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon having 1 to 6 carbon atoms. Butadiene may be reacted with HCl formed by hydrolysis of pentenoyl chloride, and butadiene is converted to chlorobutene, which reacts with carbon monoxide to form pentenoyl chloride. |
