titleOfInvention | Multi-color dynamic printing method and apparatus |
abstract | (57) Summary: (a) providing a single support member (20) having a continuous surface that moves at a substantially constant speed along a predetermined path; (b) providing said surface (20) with a printing ink comprising a colorant; 32) forming a color image thereon; (c) contacting the substrate (26) with the color image to transfer an image from the surface (32) to the substrate (26) and print the image on the substrate; The multicolor image is reproduced and transferred to the base (26). Steps (b) and (c) are repeated to define a corresponding number of printing stages, each using a different colorant, at predetermined locations along the path, thereby producing several different color images. Then, they are superimposedly transferred onto the substrate (26) at each transfer station to form a desired multicolor image. |
