(57) [Summary]nAn automated detection system includes a detection system for imaging the assay as it runs, and a computer control, data acquisition, and data analysis system for controlling the operation of the fluid processing and detection system to collect and analyze the imaging data. Comprising a robotic fluid processing system for performing a plurality of assays. An automated detection system includes a pipettor for simultaneously dispensing a predetermined amount of fluid and a signal generating element to each of a plurality of wells, an excitation source for exposing the plurality of wells to excitation radiation simultaneously, and optically connecting the plurality of wells. A single imager for simultaneous imaging of the detectors, and a detector for simultaneously detecting signals emitted from each of the wells over a predetermined time interval; and simultaneously adjusting the pipettor, the excitation source, and the detector. And a computer controller for performing the operations. Further, a method for performing a simultaneous assay includes dispensing a predetermined volume of a fluid solution to each of a plurality of samples simultaneously, exposing the plurality of wells to excitation radiation simultaneously, and providing a detector comprising a single imaging means. Simultaneously detecting the signals emitted from the wells and controlling and adjusting the distribution, excitation and detection simultaneously using a computer controller. |
