titleOfInvention | Odor control pet litter |
abstract | (57) [Summary] Urease-negative bacteria are added to sodium smectite clay mineral in pet litter to inhibit the growth of urease-positive bacteria for several days, thereby delaying the generation of ammonia and other unpleasant odors. About 50% sodium bentonite in the litter also acts as a buffer that aggregates the litter when wet, keeps urea in contact with the treated clay, and promotes the growth of urease-negative bacteria. |
