abstract (57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to a novel expression system for recombinant fibrinogen, a fibrinogen mutant and a subunit thereof, a yeast transformed by the expression system, fibrinogen, use of the fibrinogen mutant and a subunit for cloning the subunit, And the use of recombinant fibrinogen, fibrinogen variants and subunits thereof as a tool in research or pharmaceuticals, such as diagnostic assays or therapeutic agents for the treatment of certain conditions. The yeast system of the present invention produces at least 10 times more recombinant protein than was possible with other expression systems. Also, the yeast system of the present invention is easily adaptable to large-scale production of recombinant proteins. In addition, the yeast system of the present invention makes recombinant fibrinogen a major secreted protein and can therefore be easily purified from the culture medium.
