titleOfInvention How to decontaminate cementitious or metallic surfaces
abstract (57) [Summary]nA method for decontaminating cementitious or metallic surfaces with contaminants is described. The method comprises the steps of providing at least one microorganism on the surface under conditions that assist in the growth of the microorganism, and growing the microorganism and producing acid or other metabolites to erode the surface to a desired depth. Maintaining at least the desired depth of erosion while at the same time stopping the conditions that support growth; removing erosion products; and treating the erosion products. And disposing of the treated erosion product, wherein the at least one microorganism is a microorganism that produces citric acid.
