(57) [Summary]nThe present invention discloses a method for detecting a nucleic acid by fluorescence. In this method, a nucleic acid is first contacted with a bis-dication cationic aryl compound. Examples of the bis-dication cationic aryl compound include 2,5-bis [4- (4,5,6,7-tellorahydro-1H-1,3-diazepin-2-yl) phenyl] furan and 2,5-bis { [4- (N-isopropyl) amidino] phenyldifuran and the physiologically acceptable salts of these compounds are mentioned. The nucleic acid is then exposed to light of a wavelength that allows the compound to emit fluorescence. Furthermore, a method for fluorescence detection of cytoskeletal components and a novel bis-dication cationic arylfuran compound are disclosed. |
