titleOfInvention | Thermoplastic blend composition |
abstract | (57) Abstract: The present invention is a thermoplastic elastomer blend composition comprising at least two components containing at least one styrenic block copolymer, the composition comprising an unmodified, unmodified thermoplastic elastomer composition. It has essentially the same elasticity, high temperature utility and hardness as compared to the undiluted (neat) block copolymer portion. The composition is also well suited for use in the production of elastic moldings, films and fibers by exhibiting improved thermal stability and processability, as well as formulated with asphalt adhesives and sealants. Well adapted to be. The novel thermoplastic elastomer blend composition comprises (a) at least one styrenic block copolymer at 50 to 99 weight percent and (b) at least one homogenate having a density of 0.855 to 0.905 g / cc. When the ethylene interpolymer is used in such an amount, including from 1 to 50 weight percent of the branched ethylene interpolymer, it becomes a substantially inert extender of the styrenic block copolymer, and the composition comprises: (I) the storage modulus over the entire range of -26 ° C to 24 ° C is 3.5 x 10 9 dynes / cm 2 or less; and (ii) the ratio of the storage modulus at -26 ° C to the storage modulus at 24 ° C is 4 or less. And (iii) the storage modulus at -26 ° C and 24 ° C, respectively, The block copolymer portion included in this composition is characterized as 0.2 to 3 times higher than the storage modulus exhibited at -26 ° C and 24 ° C neat. |
