(57) Abstract Porphyrazine compounds having moieties substituted at eight peripheral β-pyrrole positions have been disclosed. The porphyrazine compound has the general structural formula (V), wherein M is an element capable of bonding to H 2 or a pyrrole nitrogen atom, and A, B, C and D are a thio moiety and an amino moiety, respectively. Oxo, phospho, selenium, tellurium and hydrocarbon moieties, but wherein A, B, C and D are all thio moieties; , B, C and D are excluded if they are all hydrocarbon moieties. Depending on the type of A, B, C and D, the porphyrazine compound can bind 1 to 4 metal ions to the periphery of porphyrazine to form polymetal porphyrazine. The polymetallic porphyrazine compounds can be bound by metal ions attached to the periphery of the compound to form a linear, ie, ribbon-like polymer or a two-dimensional, ie, sheet-like polymer. The porphyrazine compounds and polymetal porphyrazine compounds, and polymers derived therefrom are useful as magnetic materials, metal molecular conductors, contrast agents and dyes. |
